My Final Farewell began with one simple idea: what if planning a funeral could be easier — gentler — and maybe even empowering?

After losing her father to pancreatic cancer, Alina found herself piecing together his final wishes without a map to follow. It was emotionally heavy, logistically tricky, and filled with guesswork no one wants to face during grief.

So she created something better. A tool. A guide. A gift for whānau.

Alina, who ran a virtual business support company in Wellington, gathered her team of virtual assistants and got to work. Together, they launched My Final Farewell in early 2023 — a thoughtfully designed booklet to help others plan ahead, express their wishes, and give loved ones the comfort of clarity.

Now, Final Farewell is more than just a resource. It’s a kōrero starter. A way to bring people closer, even in life’s toughest moments.

Resources and Grief Support Hub

Sometimes grief brings more questions than answers — so we’ve pulled together a collection of gentle tools and thoughtful ideas to help you and your whānau navigate it all.

Whether you're planning ahead or supporting someone through loss, you'll find:

  • Creative memorial ideas (yes, even ashes in jewellery!)

  • Tips for organising important documents — including online vaults to keep things safe and easy to find

  • Support options: from traditional counselling to holistic and spiritual care

  • Help for clearing out belongings and making space (physically and emotionally)

  • Self-help tools for navigating grief — and ways to support someone else going through it

After talking to many people who’ve walked through loss, one thing was clear: support isn't one-size-fits-all. So this hub is here to offer variety, choice, and comfort — in whatever form you need.
